Abseiling the Gordon River Dam
Our newest challenge, was a huge success!
Abseiling the Gordon Dam, the highest commercial abseil in the world helped us raise much needed funds for Diabetes Tasmania.
On Saturday 9 July at 9am our participants went over the edge in the fog, all in the name of raising funds and awareness.
This adventure was made possible with financial support from Phil of Aardvark Adventures. Aardvark Adventures is an adventure tourism, corporate/group event and team-building company based in Hobart, Tasmania. They have nearly 30 years experience in the adventure industry, and are licensed to operate in National Parks, Hydro Tasmania properties, working forests and crown land.
If you would like to read more about the adventure check out this link for a story from Australian Traveller.
No previous abseiling experience was required and our participants took that leap of faith with ease - some with shaking legs and bodies, but all lived to tell the tale and got it done.
As a charity Diabetes Tasmania relies heavily on the support and generous donations from individuals and companies to help us deliver our valuable support services, information and advocacy to all Tamanians with diabetes and those at risk - funds raised through this challenge will stay in Tasmania to do just this and we thank each and everyone of you for donating. We successfully went past our initial fundraising target of $8,000 and in the end over $10,000 was raised!
